An Athens teen was arrested Wednesday morning for allegedly threatening to carry out a terrorist attack at a school, Athens-Clarke County police said.

Kevin Quintavious Sorrells, 19, of Forest Acres Circle was charged with one felony count of making terroristic threats, police said.

“Investigators learned that Sorrells made a comment on a video game chat forum that he was going to blow up a school and use firearms to shoot up a school,” according to police.

ACCPD also obtained a search warrant for Sorrells’ residence.

“At this time, detectives report that no evidence of any imminent threat was recovered during the search,” police said.

According to Athens-Clarke County police Public Information Officer Geof Gilland, Sorrells did not direct the alleged threat at a specific school, nor did he mention the school's community.

Police asked that anyone with information concerning this case to contact Detective Michael Carroll at (706) 613-3330, ext. 292 or michael.carroll@accgov.com
