Athens man fires gun at hotel during meeting with prostitute

An Athens man was arrested this week after he fired a gun at a westside hotel iafter a prostitute did not provide services he had paid for, Athens-Clarke County police.

Officers responded shortly before 6 p.m. Monday to Microtel Inn & Suites on Ultimate Drive on a “man with a gun” call, police said.

When officers arrived at the hotel, the man was still shooting his gun, according to police.

The suspect, later identified as 55-year-old Terry Bernard Ball of Simmons Street, “was non-compliant and tried to flee the scene in his car, and was subsequently stopped and detained at the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Atlanta Highway,” according to Athens-Clarke County police acting public information officer  Lt. John Radford.

Ball was arrested and charged with reckless conduct and fleeing and attempting to elude a law enforcement officer.

“Subsequent investigation revealed that Ball had gone to the Microtel to meet with a prostitute, and after payment was given, services were refused,” Radford said.

The panderer in the transaction, 22-year-old Jafari Milton Williams of Daisy Lane was charged with pimping and released Tuesday on a pair of $1,000 own recognizance bonds.

The 19-year-old woman that Ball had paid to have sex with was charged on Tuesday with prostitution and released later that day on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.
