Two wounded in separate weekend Athens shootings

Two men were shot in separate incidents on Saturday, Athens-Clarke County police said.

Neither victim suffered life-threatening injuries, and “at this time there are no obvious indications that (the shootings) are related,” said Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer.

The first incident occurred at about 4 p.m. in the 200 block of Chalfont Lane, where 911 callers reported.

While officers were at the scene, a 29-year-old man arrived at a local hospital with a gunshot wound.

“It is believed that this individual received the injury as a result of the gunfire on Chalfont Lane,” police said.

The second shooting was reported at about 10:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Jennings Mill Parkway, where officers located a 40-year-old man who had been shot. The male was transported by EMS to a local hospital, according to police.
