An Athens man reportedly was beaten and robbed Tuesday during a home invasion at his southside apartment complex.
According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, the 54-year-old victim said that at about 5:45 a.m. he heard knocking at his door in the Argo Apartment Community off South Milledge Avenue, and as he opened the door a tall black male pushed his way in, saying he had a gun and would shoot the victim if he did not give him money.
The victim said the intruder placed an object that possibly was a gun to the back of the victim’s head and ordered him to get on the floor, at which time he heard the male and a female accomplice going through his belongings, according to the report.
The victim told officers that he got up and tried to hit one of the suspects with a chair, at which time an altercation ensued in which the suspects hit and kicked him in the face and arms before running from the apartment, according to the report.
A neighbor who saw the tail end of the incident told officers that the suspects fled in a white pickup truck that possibly had “something wrong” with its passenger-side headlight, the police report noted.
The neighbor, who called 911 said the male suspect possibly had dreadlocks and the black female had short blond hair, according to the report.
Police said the only thing that appeared to have been stolen was $40 cash.
The victim told officer that he recognized the female as a prostitute who goes by the name “Tutti-Frutti” who had robbed him previously, according to the report.
“He said when he does have dealings with ‘Tutti’ she sometimes wants him to buy drugs for him,” according to the report. “He could not provide any other information about ‘Tutti’ or the male suspect.”
