Police on Thursday went to the aid of a man who was threatening suicide by jumping off a bridge.

The incident occurred on the Prince Avenue/Jefferson Road overpass at the Georgia State Route 10 Loop, according to Athens Clarke County police spokesman Lt. Shaun Barnett.

"At approximately 10 a.m., ACCPD responded to the Prince Avenue overpass to the Georgia 10 Loop in regards to a male on the edge of the bridge, over the 10 Loop," Barnett said. "Officers made contact with the male and he got off the bridge without incident."
