An Athens man was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a fellow restaurant employee last week during a dispute about a grilled cheese sandwich.
According to an Athens-Clarke County police report, the incident occurred the afternoon of Dec. 9 at Locos Grill & Pub on Timothy Road, to where officers responded to a battery call.
Upon arrival, officers were told by the manager that 48-year-old Leonardo Lagunas was arguing with another employee about whether a grilled cheese sandwich needed to be re-cooked, when Lagunas broke a dinner plate over the other man’s head, according to the report.
The victim confirmed the manager’s story and added that Laguas grabbed a knife and threated to kill him and that when Lagunas lunged and tried to stab him, but he missed, the police report noted.
After other employees stopped the fight, Lagunas left and police took out arrest warrants on him.
He was arrested and booked into the county jail Tuesday afternoon on two counts of aggravated assault.
As of Wednesday afternoon, he continued to be held in lieu of bonds totaling $5,000.
He had beef about a grilled cheese? Was it suppose to be a philly cheese?
Looks like he went Loco at Locos.
I didn’t even know they had grilled cheeses, I got a try that if it’s worth fighting over for sure. Must be a damn good grilled cheese.
I LOVE IT!!! Now THERE’S a place that takes the motto “The customer is always right” to heart!! That’s the spirit!!!
They’ll have MY business from now on!
I’d like to say too bad that Leonardo will be deported, but he’ll be absolutely safe in our little sanctuary city!!! I think they even put up a sign when you enter the county which says “Welcome to Clarke County, Harborer of Illegal Aliens & Wanted Felons”
