An Athens man was shot Sunday afternoon as he visited a woman at the Rocksprings Homes public housing complex, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
The 23-year-old resident of Hallmark Estates was at a 38-year-old woman’s apartment in the complex that is located between Baxter Street and Henderson Extension, according to the report.
At about 4:10 p.m. the victim answered knocking at the front door, and upon opening it he saw an unknown male pointing a pistol toward the opening in the door, according to the police report.
When the victim attempted to move, he was shot in the leg, according to the report.
The apartment’s resident reportedly told police she heard the gunshot while in the shower but did not observe the incident.
The victim was transported to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
