A former Clarke Central High School teacher was recently indicted for an alleged sexual assault of a student.
Kara Elizabeth Coalson, 23, was accused of the offense for allegedly having intercourse with the student on Feb. 2, according to the indictment that was filed Oct. 29 in Clarke County Superior Court.
School officials said they learned about the alleged illegal affair two months later, and they notified Athens-Clarke County police about the off-campus encounter on April 17. Coalson was arrested five days later.
The student's age and other details of the alleged illicit relationship were withheld by authorities.
The former mathematics teacher from Cumming, who was subsequently released from custody upon posting a $10.000 bond, is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 20, acccording to court records.
