UGA student reportedly raped near campus

The University of Georgia Police Department is assisting Athens-Clarke police in the investigation the rape of a student that reportedly occurred near campus early Sunday Morning.

According to a UGPD Timely Warning that was emailed to the university community, the victim reported meeting two suspects in downtown Athens and accompanied them to a car in the North Campus parking deck off South Jackson Street at approximately 3:20 a.m.

The victim reportedly was driven from the deck and raped while in the vehicle, according to the alert, which noted that at one point, the victim was seen being carried on the back of one of the suspects before entering the car and being driven away.

ACCPD confirmed that the purported victim was a student at the university.

The suspects were described as two Latino males. One was said by police to have a medium build with dark curly hair, and was wearing a black button-up Columbia shirt and khaki shorts; the second was described as possibly being in his early 20's, thin with dark hair and wearing blue jeans, boots, a black jacket with a hood and a white shirt.
