Authorities are investigating the shooting death of a man whose body was found early Monday morning on Interstate 85 in Jefferson, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
The body was found after Jackson County 911 received a call at about 3:10 a.m. and dispatched deputies to the area of mile marker 144 on northbound I-85, according to the JCSO.
Deputies and other officers with K-9 units searched the area of Georgia Highway 82 Spur, Dry Pond Road, and surrounding areas, the sheriff’s office said.
At 9 a.m. the sheriff’s office announced that a suspect had been taken into custody.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested to assist with the investigation.
