A person was shot early Saturday morning on the University of Georgia campus.

According to UGA police, at about 2:17 a.m. officers heard what they believed to be gunshots in the area of Jackson and Fulton streets, where they found a male who had gunshot wounds to his leg. The victim’s injuries do not appear to be life threatening.

The victim was not a student, and UGA police said the injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

Soon after, Athens-Clarke County police officers reportedly conducted a traffic stop of a potentially involved vehicle, and suspects were detained.

ACCPD Public Information Officer Lt. Jody Thompson had no additional information to offer, saying it's a UGA police cast.

Information from county police was not immediately available.

Anyone who may have information related to this incident is asked to contact the UGA Police Department at 706-542-2200.

That doesn't make it part of the campus. Charging them with having a weapon on school grounds is ridiculous.
