Science fact of the day: There are 5,000 Ladybug species

There are about 5,000 species of ladybug in the world, each with unique colors and patterns.

They are sometimes referred to as lady beetles or ladybird beetles.

The most recognizable ladybug species in North America is the seven-spotted ladybug, which has a shiny red-and-black body.
