A teenaged suspect in an Athens murder case was free on bond for a gun related arrest when he allegedly shot two people in Athens, killing one of them.
Daviae Massir Oliver, 18, is facing charges for an October shooting at Rolling Ridge Apartments that killed 20-year-old Ndya Hill of Hoyt Street and injured a 17-year-old male.
Oliver was arrested in November and has since been held without bail at the Clarke County Jail.
“The investigation is ongoing and specific details are still under investigation,” according to Athens-Clarke County police Lt. Shaun Barnett.
“But at this time, the investigation suggests that Oliver was upset with Hill over some statements that she said,” Barnett said.
At a Jan 4 hearing, in Superior Court, Chief Judge Eric Norris denied bond to Oliver, who the judge noted in his decision was already on bond for armed robbery and aggravated assault charges in Gwinnett County.
Why are there so many murders at Rolling Ridge Apartments? When Jack Lumpkin was ACC's Police Chief, he lamented that certain apartment owners are very tolerant of drug dealing tenants (whereas others throw them out, based for example on police reports). I suspect this is the case at Rolling Ridge.
Perhaps citizens need to start tracking such cases to see what our "social justice warrior" DA does with such cases.
