Two University of Georgia students have been charged with having sex during a virtual conference with underage students at an out-of-state prep school.

According to a UGA police report, police were notified on May 10 by a teacher at The Quarry Lane School in Dublin, CA that his students were having a virtual debate contest when one of the judges, 19-year-old UGA student Janaki Chaturved began to have sexual intercourse with a female, who was later identified as 19-year-old Selena Yasmin Petluri, also a student at UGA.

The teacher at the prep school reported that four female students ranging in age from 12 to 14 witnessed the sex act, according to the police report.

The report did not indicate whether the debate had been in progress while the suspects were having sex, but stated that the judge from UGA “began to have sexual intercourse with an unidentified female while his web camera was still broadcasting.”

A supervisor in UGPD’s Criminal Investigations Division on May 13 obtained warrants charging Chaturved and Petluri each with public indecency and four counts of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors, according to the police report.

Both students, who have different addresses in Cumming, surrendered themselves at the Clarke County Jail Sunday morning and were released that afternoon upon posting good security bonds totaling $2,000.
