Gunner Garrison and his fiancé Katelyn

By Joe Johnson

A Winder man is recovering after falling off an 80-foot cliff at a Kentucky resort.

The Wolfe County Search and Rescue Team posted on its Facebook page that on March 25 Garrison fell when he was climbing on a deck railing at Cliffview Resort Cabins in Red River Gorge.

Rescuers rappelled down the cliff to save Garrison, and after he was hoisted back up, Garrison was life flighted to the hospital.

According to a GoFundMe set up by his fraternity brothers, Garrison suffered significant injuries to his neck and will have a lengthy recovery.

According to their online wedding page, Garrison and fiancé Katelyn had planned to get married in September.

From Gunner Garrison and his fiancé Katelyn wedding page: We've been through 2+ years of living..... . We've bought our first home together in Winder, Georgia, and of course our puppy, So assuming he has a job and medical insurance......he shouldn't need a GoFundMe page. From their page it looks like a very expensive wedding to be. So was it a bachelor party when this happened ? His family didn't respond to WGAU when asked for update. Good luck on his recovery !

That isn’t a cabin. It’s a very expensive lodge.

Will he be coming back to Georgia soon ? Would like to talk with him. I fell years ago and ended up with a back injury. Might could give him a boost.

I wonder if subsequent updates to this story will include the line “alcohol was involved”? I do wish wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
