There are so many amazing community organizing efforts taking place across our city. Let’s make it easier on ourselves by pooling links into one easy-to-read, grab-n-go document.

FOR GIVING/SUPPORTING

  • Athens Area Emergency Food Bank

  • This food bank is available for all who are facing financial struggles, and worry about where their next meal will come from.

  • Restaurants/Servers:

  • Those in the service industry most likely cannot afford to take off of work, or have no other means to support themselves. Please consider ordering take-out from local restaurants, if it’s possible.

  • Please also consider buying gift certificates to help restaurants and other local businesses through these tough times

  • Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

  • This food bank is trying to meet the growing demand and need for folks who are finding they cannot make ends meet. Please consider donating in order to help them meet this demand. They also have a Food2Kids program that they need a lot more support i.e. donations for to help kids who aren’t getting their meals through school.

  • Athens Community Council on Aging

  • ACCA services the community by delivering meals to those over 65+ and those who are disabled. Please consider calling to see what they need most at this time, or donate so that they may continue their operations.

  • Crisis Text Line

  • Anyone in Georgia experiencing an emotional crisis can text GA to 741741 to communicate with a trained Crisis Counselor. Children and Teens are especially welcome. The service is free, confidential and available 24/7.

  • Athens Area Emergency Food Bank

  • This food bank is available for all who are facing financial struggles, and worry about where their next meal will come from

  • Georgia Crisis and Access Line

  • Call this number, 1-800-715-4225, a free 24/7 helpline providing mental health crisis assistance and access to mental health resources in Georgia.

  • National Disaster Distress Helpline

  • National, US-based crisis counseling and support phone line for people experiencing emotional distress related to natural or human-caused disasters.

  • Food Bank of Northeast Georgia

  • This food bank is trying to meet the growing demand and need for folks who are finding they cannot make ends meet. They also have a Food 4 Kids program.

  • Internet Essentials Program

  • For new low-income customers, Comcast is giving away two months of this complimentary internet program.

  • Spectrum/Charter Internet Assistance

  • Spectrum is setting up wifi hotspots across the country and giving 60 days free broadband w/out installation fees. Enrollment #:1-844-488-8395

  • United Way 211

  • A 24/7 service to help people connect to resources in their areas

  • Free Subscriptions for Education Resources Google Doc

  • A google doc was created with all the companies offering free subscriptions for educational opportunities in lieu of schools closing
