Man fatally shot on North Avenue

Athens-Clarke County police were investigating the fatal shooting of a man Tuesday afternoon at the Apex Chevron station on North Avenue.

Police said the shooting occurred shortly before 5 p.m.

The victim's name was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Jerry Saulters said that "a person of interest" had been identified and was questioned.
