A man was arrested Thursday night and charged with an armed robbery that occurred around the corner from where he lives in east Athens.
According to police, 21-year-old Shamon Ontae Elder of Little Oak Street pulled a gun on a 64-year-old victim near the corner of Little Oak and Burney streets at about 7:45 p.m. and stole his cigarettes, money, and lottery tickets.
The victim described the suspect and a vehicle the suspect was in before the robbery, according to police, who said that responding officers located Elder shortly after in the vehicle and arrested him.
Shamon Elder was charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and driving on a suspended license.

Good police work
It's a known fact that many criminals aren't the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.
As a workingman, I always imagined having a job I could walk to. Now, (Shamon) has that job. He could’ve walked to his stick up, but decided to take a car anyway. So jelly!
