An Athens man was slightly injured Monday when his car was shot at by a drug dealer, according to an Athens-Clarke County police report.
Police learned of the incident when a Summerbrook Circle woman reported that her car was shot at as she drove on Brooklyn Road at about 9:30 p.m.
Responding officers saw that the car's back window had been shattered, there was a bullet hole in the side of the car, and the windshield was cracked in two laces where it was struck by a projectile, according to the report, which noted that there was vlood on the vehicle's gear shift, steering wheel and elsewhere in the car.
Upon further investigation, officers learned that the woman's boyfriend was driving the car when it was shot, according to the police report.
When the 37-year-old man went out to speak to the officers, they saw he had blood on his hands, back of the head and shirt. the report noted,
He explained that he drove to Brooklyn Road to buy marijuana from a dealer and when he got there another dealer got mad when the man didn't want to buy any weed from him.
The suspect, who the victim knew as "Tony" then began shooting sat the car, according to the report.
The victim declined medical attention.
He reportedly told officers where Tony lived, gave them the phone number for a friend with whom Tony stayed, and told them that they "better do do something or he is going to take matters into his own hands."
