Athens-Clarke police are investigating a shootout that occurred last weekend at Rolling Ridge apartments off Kathwood Drive.
According to a police incident report, officers responded to the apartment complex at about 9 p.m. Sunday to investigate reports that several people were shooting and that some of the gunfire came from a white van.
Officers reportedly found groupings of spent bullet casings on the ground near buildings 9 and 13 and discovered that several vehicles had been struck by gunfire.
A bullet was recovered from the dashboard of one of the damaged vehicles, according to the report.
“It appears upon initial investigation that the shots were coming from two different directions as if two individuals or groups were firing at each other,” an officer wrote in the report.
The report made no mention of officers locating evidence of anyone being injured during the incident.
