Someone reportedly abandoned a dog Friday morning outside of the Athens-Clarke County Animal Services Department.
The dog was tethered outside of the building on Buddy Christian Way for about eight hours, without access to food or water, according to a police incident report.
Because of those factors, plus leaving the dog exposed to the elements, the responsible person faces a potential animal cruelty charge, according to the report.
An animal control officer took in the dog to take care of it, the report noted.
Police said they had a suspect, who lives in Athens and goes by the nickname “Bubba.”
