An Athens woman reported that a gang member shot at her car Wednesday afternoon on Coleridge Court at the Athens Gardens apartment complex, Athens-Clarke County police said.
When meeting with officers at Loews nearby, the woman told them that a 37-year-old Athens man she recognized by name and who was as a convicted felon and gang member shot a gun at least three times in the direction of her vehicle before running into a wooded area behind the Willowood Square shopping center at the corner of Lexington and Gaines School roads, according to police.
The woman, who was not injured, said the suspect was in a relationship with her best friend, but she did not offer a possible motive for the alleged shooting, according to police.
Police said the woman’s SUV had not been struck by any bullets and that officers were unable to identify a crime scene or locate the alleged shooter. During a search of the wooded area.
