The Gwinnett County Police Department, in partnership with the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office, Gwinnett CountySolicitor’s Office, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, and a group of local community leaders have created some informational videos regarding the unlicensed practice of law. This is a scam that often targets people in the immigrant community who may need legal services and are deceived by individuals who claim to be legal experts but who are not actually licensed to practice law. These scams can be financially devastating to their victims who not only lose their money but who are still left to deal with the original legal issue they were seeking help with.
We hope that these videos will help raise awareness of this issue, direct people to the proper authorities to report these scams, and help people find a licensed attorney. The videos are available in English, Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, and Cantonese Chinese.
