Athens-Clarke County Police Chief Cleveland Spruill has appointed S. Harrison Daniel, a 17-year ACCPD veteran, as one of his three deputy chiefs, the police department announced Tuesday.
Daniel fills a position that has been vacant since March, when Jeff Clark left to become deputy chief with the University of Georgia Police Department.
During his tenure with ACCPD, Daniel has worked in all areas of the police department, including the Field Operations Bureau, the Operational Support Bureau, and the Administrative Services Bureau.
Daniel’s most recent assignments include serving as captain of the Standards, Records, and Training Division, commander of the Office of Professional Standards, and lieutenant with the Criminal Investigations Division’s Persons Crimes Unit.
Daniel is a double graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration degree from UGA’s School of Public and International Affairs.
Daniel is also a recipient of the Governor’s Office of Public Safety Award for Acts of Heroism and the American Red Cross Law Enforcement Hero Award.
His appointment took effect on June 13.
