A 15-year-old student in possession of a gun was arrested Wednesday at Clarke Central High School, Athens-Clarke County police said.
A county school resource officer was made aware of the boy having a pistol on campus, and after the officer and school administrators isolated the student, they searched his backpack and found the gun, according to police.
The gun was confiscated, and the student was arrested for possession of a weapon on school grounds, police said.
Police did not say whether the gun had been loaded.
He was transported to the Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center
The incident happened two weeks after a 16-year-old female student was arrested for having a military-grade camo knife on the Clarke Central campus.
