An Athens woman was arrested early Tuesday after she stabbed and seriously injured her boyfriend, according to Athens-Clarke County police.

The incident reportedly occurred shortly after midnight at the offender’s home at Pinewood Apartments on Bailey Street

“There was an argument between the offender and victim which led to the stabbing.” said Lt. Shaun Barnett, ACCPD’s public information officer.

The victim, identified as 52-year-old Michael Eugene Culbreath of Will Usher Road, was transported by National EMS to the hospital, where he was said on Tuesday to be in serious condition.

“The victim was seriously injured but is still alive,” Barnett said.

The offender, identified by police as 41-year-old Carla Ameena Johnson, “was arrested at the scene shortly after the incident,” according to Barnett.

Johnson was booked into the county jail on a charge of aggravated assault, and she remined there Tuesday afternoon after a judge denied her bail.
