A Madison County man has been arrested for allegedly sexually engaging on the Internet children he believed to be as young as 10 years old.

Richard Nathanal Wood, 44, of Eustus Carter Road in Danielsville, was indicted Jan 4. in Clarke County Superior Court for eight counts of obscene Internet contact with a child.

He was taken into custody Tuesday when served with bench warrants signed by Western Judicial Circuit Chief Judge Eric Norris.

According to the indictment, Wood used the Meet24 online dating mobile app to contact young girls he believed to be between 10 and 14 years old “to commit immoral and indecent acts” …"with the intent to satisfy his own sexual desires.”

The acts included engaging in sexually explicit conversations and Wood allegedly sending photos of his genitalia, the indictment notes.

The indictment does not indicate whether Wood communicated with actual children, or law enforcement officers pretending to be juveniles.

As of Wednesday, Wood was being detained at the Athens-Clarke County Jail without bail being set.

He is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

The case was investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
