Athens Alliance Coalition brings early Christmas to children

The First Annual Athens Alliance Coalition Christmas Gift Giveaway on Sunday was a huge success.

AAC members, along with such volunteers as Clarke County Deborah Gonzales and her staff, were able to provide toys and clothes to more than 40 families in the eastside low-income communities of Athens Gardens and Clarke Gardens.

"It was such a heart warming feeling to see the smiles on the kids' faces and to hear the words of appreciation from the parents,"AAC President Charles Hardy said.

The Athens nonprofit also had help from Gasimon Curry of Catchone Ent.; Allah Blakely of Studio 74; Cedrick Henson, Owner of Big C BBQ; Athens Anti-Discrimination Movement Vice President Mykeisha Ross, among other volunteers from the community who showed up to cook hot dogs and hamburgers, serve, drinks and chips, and make sure that no kid left empty handed.

"This was such an awesome event and we can't thank our supporters enough," Hardy said.
