'Sex, Money, Murda' gang members plead in Athens armed robbery case, are sentenced to prison

Two member of the local street gang known as Sex, Money, Murda last week pleaded guilty to using a rifle to rob two people at a home in northwest Athens-Clarke County.

During a Superior Court hearing on Thursday Tair Kuran Lawson and Travious Demetrius Huff struck plea bargains in the 11 count indictment that charged them for the Dec. 28, 2021 armed robbery of a male and female on Maple Forge Drive.

They each pleaded guilty to multiple counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, violating the state street gang act, as well as weapons charges. In return their charges were merged and the sentenced they received are to run concurrently.

Lawson, 29, was ordered by Chief Judge Eric Norris to serve 15 years in prison and 10 years on probation, and Huff, 26, received a sentence of 12 years in prison and eight years on probation.
