The 75th Annual Christmas Parade in Winder that had been set for today has been cancelled due to weather concerns
Cityofficials have planned an alternative event, Santa's After Party, for Friday, Dec.15 at Jug Tavern Park from 6 to 10 p.m. The cancellation decision was made after considering the difficulties of rescheduling a large event and the needs of local businesses.
City officials stressed that safety was their top priority and the parade was cancelled to ensure public safety in the face of possible severe thunderstorms.
Santa's After Party will feature a tree lighting, live music, ice skating, food trucks, and free photos with the Big Man in Red.
All parade participants are invited. Special Events Director Kristin Edwards said that spaces are being reserved for floats, vehicles, and groups. In this setup, attendees will move around the displays.
