A woman and young child reportedly were injured Saturday when gunfire erupted at a westside apartment complex.

According to Athens-Clarke County police, officers responded at about 4:15 p.m. to a reported shooting in the 100 block of Rocksprings Court in the Rocksprings Homes complex.

Upon arrival, officers saw multiple people fighting and, after gaining control of the situation, they determined that an altercation took place between multiple individuals.

An investigation determined that one of those involved in the altercation, 31-year-old Shontiva Jantella Myers, had driven from Atlanta with three others after learning about a fight involving their juvenile relative, according to police.

One of her companions from Atlanta, 33-year-old Jeal Simon Williams, was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and another, 50-year-old Yolanda Faye Myers, was charged with disorderly conduct.

Police said the investigation was ongoing, and that it could result in additional arrests.

Police asked for anyone with information about the incident to contact Detective Hovie Lister at 762-400-7333 or Hovie.Lister@accgov.com.

Replying to

Don’t give me that weak lame excuse of poverty justifying crime! Studies of historical statistics will tell you that in The Great Depression in the 1930’s where poverty and unemployment where everywhere, people didn’t go off the chain and commit crimes in any noticeable number. People still acted civilly and didn’t use it as a license to rob, loot, murder, rape or deal drugs! It’s todays lack of morals and ethical standards of the “ME” generation coupled with the sick and twisted glorification of the drug/gangster culture

So PLEASE…stop your excuse making. Today there’s NO REASON anyone should be unemployed
