Another drowning in Lake Hartwell

Investigators are continuing to look into the death of a man at Lake Hartwell on Saturday.

According to Hartwell County Coroner’s Office, Randy Lamar Beasley, of Commerce, Georgia, was recovered at Hartwell Marina between 8:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. Saturday.

According to the coroner’s office, Beasley, who was not a swimmer, was stepping from a boat onto a dock when he lost his footing and fell into the water.

The sheriff’s office said Beasley was attempting to help maneuver a boat near a boat slip and went under the water and never resurfaced. He was recovered from a depth between 16 and 20 feet.

His death is being investigated by the Hart County Coroner’s Office, Hart County Sheriff’s Office and Department of Natural Resources.
