Another drug dealer arrested at Bulldog Inn

By Joe Johnson

Paying close attention to a high crime location has again paid dividends for the Athens-Clarke County Police Department.

Since at least April police have made several arrests in connection with drug activity at the Bulldog Inn on Commerce Road.

It was noted in a police report that month how the motel was being watched by the Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force because of its reputation as “a high crime, drug, and prostitution area within the community.”

The most recent arrest was made on afternoon of August 29th when officers nabbed 37-year-old Curioki Dante Hyche, who has multiple felony drug convictions in state and federal courts.

After witnessing him make a transaction in the parking lot officers followed as Hyche ran into one of the motel rooms.

Police said after an unsuccessful attempt to kick in the door, an officer went to the office for a key while another kept tabs on the suspect’s movements.

Through the window he saw Hyche run carrying items into a bathroom several times.

When officers gained entry to the room they reportedly found marijuana in the toilet and evidence throughout the room that included a scale and large amount of cash.

Hyche was arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, obstruction of law enforcement, and tampering with evidence.

An investigation by the drug task force is continuing.
