The victim of this week’s dentist office shooting in Athens was shot multiple times including once in her face, according to a police report that was released today.

The report contains the following details:

An employee of McRae Family Dental called 911 at 6:36 a.m. to report that she heard four gunshots and her coworker Sheila Mobley yelling.

When police entered the Baxter Street office they found the 47-year-old employee sitting on the floor with her back against an open door and she “clearly had a gunshot wound to her face and could barely speak,” an officer said in his report.

“I prodded Mosley for information and, eventually, she grabbed a notepad and pen,” the officer said.

“Mobley wrote down the name Carl Clark, an address and a vehicle description.”

Police then issued a lookout for the 74-year-old suspect and his 2025 Hyundai Tucson and when the vehicle was later spotted by law enforcement in Butts County a traffic stop was made during which Clark shot himself.

Police said the incident was an act of domestic violence, but a spokesperson was unable to describe the relationship between Mobley and Clark, who are listed in the police report as having the same address on Winterville Road address.

The victim and shooter are recovering from their wounds in separate hospitals.

When Clark is released to authorities he will be facing charges of criminal attempt to commit murder and aggravated asstalt.

This is a really terrible event. I hope that the victim is able to fully recover. Carl Clark has ruined the remaining years of his life.
