Dollar General at 11325 Commerce Road near the Athens-Clarke county line was burglarized on Feb. 6, according to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
During an investigation the sheriff’s office said they were able to determine that 40-year-
old Demarkio Wise of Fairview Street in Athens had committed the crime and warrants for burglary, theft by taking and criminal trespass were subsequently obtained, the sheriff’s office said Wednesday.
On Feb. 10, the Athens-Clarke County Police Department caught Wise during the commission of another store burglary in Clarke County.
Wise was booked early Monday into the Clarke County Jail on three local counts of second-degree burglary and a hold on his released was placed by Jackson County authorities.
Details of the Athens burglaries were not immediately available from police Wednesday night.
