An Athens-Clarke County grand jury has indicted a man who shot his girlfriend three months ago.
Jose Rodolfo Linares, 53, was charged with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, terroristic threats and acts, possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and third-degree cruelty to children, according to the indictment filed September 2nd in Superior Court.
Police say that Linares shot 53-year-old Mirna Umana during a domestic violence incident at their Vincent Drive residence on the evening of June 14th in which he reportedly told her “you will die today.”
Umana survived the shooting.
The incident was witnessed by the victim’s 6-year-old daughter who called 911.
Linares is being held in pretrisl detention without bail.
