A young man was shot Saturday night while visiting in the Nellie B community of east Athens.
Police said that officers responded to an apartment in the 400 block of Nellie B Avenue where they found 20-year-old Lamorris Cooper in the living room with someone holding a towel to his groin area.
“From what I could make out at the time Mr. Cooper had skin missing from the inside of both his left and right inner thigh and his penis was missing skin as well,” an officer stated in an incident report. “I could not locate the hole at the time and just assisted in holding pressure until other units arrived.”
The injured victim from Rolling Ridge Drive was unable to tell the officer “anything other than he had just walked outside prior to police being called and he had been shot. He stated that he did not see anyone in the area and was unsure where he heard the shot come from.”
The 44-year-old resident of the apartment told police that Cooper was one of multiple people who were visiting at the time of the shooting and that she didn’t witness what happened.
