A 24-year-old Athens man is hospitalized in serious condition after shooting himself in a failed suicide attempt Wednesday afternoon.
Police responded to his home after the man’s mother called 911 to report that he had shot himself.
On arrival officers found the man’s father doing chest compressions on him in a bathroom, with a pistol on the floor nearby and a Pink Floyd song playing on his phone.
After helping to move the victim out of the bathroom, an officer noticed that he was breathing on his own and had a strong pulse.
The officer reported seeing a bullet entry wound in the man’s ear but could not find an exit wound.
The victim reportedly opened his eyes while being taken out of the home by EMS.
