Law enforcement operation yields seizures of machine guns, marijuana and three arrests

A coordinated investigation by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department Gang Unit and

Northeast Georgia Regional Drug Task Force this week resulted in the seizure of multiple firearms,

including machine guns, a significant amount of marijuana, and thousands of dollars in U.S.

currency.

On August 5th the Gang Unit conducted a traffic stop that resulted in the seizure of about a quarter pound of marijuana, a Glock 27 pistol, and $968.

The driver, Siderious O’Neal Heard, 25, of Chalfont Lane, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

With evidence from the traffic stop Gang Unit and Drug Task Force investigators obtained a search warrant in the 200 block of Sidney Lanier Avenue, where they seized 14 guns, six of which had been modified with machine gun conversion devices, approximately 10.5

pounds of marijuana, and over $4,000.

Joshua Lanier Campbell, 23, of Rocksprings Court, and Fredrick Letron Heard, 24, of Parkview Homes, were subsequently arrested and each charged with trafficking marijuana, multiple counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon? possession of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and possession of a machine gun.

Between the traffic stop and search warrant, detectives seized a total of 15 firearms, including

six machine guns, more than 11 pounds of marijuana, and over $5,000 in U.S. currency.
