The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating a former police officer who allegedly misused his department’s Flock surveillance camera system.

The state law enforcement agency was referred the case after Tyler Vaughn was fired this week from the Athens-Clarke County Police Department,

According to ACCPD, an internal review was conducted when a fellow officer alerted superiors that Vaughn was misusing the Automated License Plate Reader system

Flock is the manufacturer for the system.

“The initial investigation found that Officer Tyler Vaughn improperly used the ALPR system to

search the license plate associated with his former girlfriend’s vehicle numerous times,“ according to a statement from ACCPD.

Vaughn was subsequently fired by his department and matter was referred to the GBI for a criminal investigation,

This comes less than a month after a civilian crime for ACCPD was arrested by the GBI for illegally using the surveillance system to keep tabs on his ex-wife,
