Athens woman hospitalized after apparent suicide attempt

A 44-year-old Athens woman was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the head on the evening of September 15th.

Family members found her in the backyard of their Juniper Lane home at about 9:45 p. m., and as paramedics attended to her she became unresponsive and was transported to the hospital.

Detectives were investigating the incident as an attempted suicide.
