Ben W. Burton was a Vice President at Georgia Powerwho is honored by the naming of Ben Burton Park in Athens, Georgia. The park is a 35-acre wildlife preserve located off Mitchell Bridge Road, featuring a hardwood forest, trails, picnic areas, and a streambank stabilization project. The park was dedicated in 1971 in his honor after Georgia Power donated the land, which was previously the site of a hydroelectric generating station.

Ben Burton Park features a 1.4 mile pedestrian trail that traverses upland forest and the Middle Oconee riverside. Follow the orange blazes and enjoy the scenery throughout the park. Dogs are welcome but they must be on a leash of 6 feet or less and under your control at all times.
