Why woman crashed car into Athens Kroger remains unknown

As of Wednesday afternoon the Athens-Clarke County Police Department had yet to confirm what caused a woman to crash her car into Kroger on Alps Road Tuesday morning.

Customers were at the store’s self checkout station when they were struck by the car and they were taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

While the ACCPD will not comment on what they call an ongoing investigation, witnesses have speculated that the driver might have had a medical problem.

Others suggested that the crash might have been intentional, as the driver was reportedly repeating "he ruined my life" and was a known shoplifter.

A police spokeswoman would not release the driver’s identity.
