Surveillance of suspected dealer leads to arrest

Curioke Dante Hyche, 37, of East Carver Drive, was arrested on October 3rd after he was seen allegedly selling drugs.

Officers with the Athens-Clarke County Police Department’s Gang Unit were patrolling a neighborhood in east Athens when they spotted Hyche in the parking lot of Vine East Apartments.

They were aware that he was free on bail from his arrest on drug charges last month, and so they began to conduct surveillance.

The officers accessed a video feed of the apartment complex through ACCPD’s Real Time Crime Center and watched as Hyche made apparent transactions with customers,

When they approached him, Hyche reportedly ran into one of the apartments and they arrested him after kicking in the door.

He was found in have a large amount of cash on him and in his car the officers located weed, a scale with methamphetamine residue and packaging materials.

Hyche was subsequently arrested on charges of possession with intent to distribute both marijuana and methamphetamine, and also obstruction.

He is being held at the county jail pending a November 12th bail hearing,
