Drug-impaired driver crashes into Athens BP station

Angus Stewart Moller, 61, of Double Bridges Crossing in Winterville, was arrested on the afternoon of February 16th after crashing his pickup truck into the BP gas station on Lexington Road,

Police said that he appeared to be under the influence of drugs and that he failed drug impairment testing at the scene.

In addition to his truck crashing into another vehicle at the gas station it struck the building, according to the police report.

An officer stated in the report that Moller explained he had been attempting to make a turn when his truck was “clipped “ by a car and his foot got caught on the accelerator,, causing the crash.

“Moller advised me he did not remember anything else about the wreck and that it was a blur,” the officer wrote.

Moller was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and failure to maintain lane.

He was released from jail the next day after posting bonds totaling $1,850.
