Elderly felon found asleep in park with weapons and drugs

A 70-year-old convicted felon was arrested early the morning of July 2nd when he was found sleeping in Southeast Clarke Park while in possession of drugs and weapons.
A police officer was patrolling the park at around 2:30 a.m. when he came upon Sylvester Upshaw asleep in a car,
A woman also was asleep in the driver’s seat, with a straw and burnt tinfoil on her lap. The pair told the officer that they were homeless.
After consent was granted to search the car, the officer found suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, a pistol and large KA-BAR knife.
Upshaw was arrested for drug possession, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a weapon in the commission of a crime,
A judge granted bail to Upshaw in the amount of $500 and he was released upon posting a commercial bond on July 3rd.
