Employee pulls gun on manager at Athens McDonald’s

An employee at McDonald’s on Atlanta Highway was arrested over the weekend for allegedly threatening the manager with a gun.

Anthony Valdes Torres, 22, of Herbert Road, reportedly had taken the weapon from the manager’s purse and pulled it when she confronted him.

The incident happened soon after midnight on December 20th when the manager told Torres to go home because she suspected him to be under the influence.

Upon realizing that the gun was missing from her purse the manager confronted Torres about it because he was the only person who was in the office when it disappeared.

Torres tried to run away but the manager grabbed him, at which time he pulled out the gun and chambered a round, then continued to run.

Police found Torres when searching the area but were unable to locate the gun. They arrested him for aggravated assault and theft,

After he was taken into the county jail, Torres was found to have a bag of OxyContin and he put one of the pills in his mouth before they could be confiscated.

Torres was booked on charges of aggravated assault, theft, possession of a controlled substance, tampering with evidence, crossing a jail guard line with drugs, e possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He continued to be held without bail as of Tuesday.
