A former nurse has pleaded guilty to selling and distributing drugs while she worked at the county jail in Athens.
Jasmine Turquoise Wheeler was arrested last year during an investigation into fentanyl related deaths of several jailed inmates.
Authorities say the 39-year-old Burkland Lane resident had stolen drugs from the jail’s infirmary, including the synthetic opioid pain medication tramadol.
Others arrested during the investigation included Wheeler’s husband Devonta Davis, a former jail inmate who was charged with trafficking methamphetamine.
Wheeler on August 4th pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a controlled substance, and seven counts eight counts of sale/distribution of dangerous drugs.
She was sentenced to five years of probation.
