Heist at Captain D’s could be inside job

Updated: Jan 22

Employees showed up for work at Captain D’s on Prince Avenue Wednesday morning to find an unlocked back door and an empty office safe.

From what the police learned in their preliminary investigation it appears as though the theft might have been an inside job.

The missing money had all been inside the restaurant’s safe, and its code had apparently been used to open it because there was no sign of forced entry.

The business has a camera surveillance system but it had been shut off for a three-hour period on the morning of the theft, according to police.

The amount of money that was stolen was redacted from the police report.
