A purported gang member was arrested this week for his alleged participation in an armed robbery two months ago in a west Athens neighborhood.

Dillon Scott Brown, 19, of Quailwood Drive was a known member of the Piru Bloods gang and one of “multiple individuals” who assaulted and robbed at gunpoint a 16-year-old boy on Nov. 2 in the 100 block of Whitehead Terrace, according to Athens-Clarke County police spokesman Geof Gilland.

After an investigation, detectives took out warrants charging Brown with armed robbery, aggravated assault and violating the Georgia Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act.

Brown was arrested on the warrants Monday night, according to the Clarke County Sheriff’s Office.

A Magistrate Court judge denied him bond at a hearing on Tuesday.

Gilland on Thursday said detectives continued to investigate the incident and that additional arrests were possible.
